Lone Star Grillz “Candied Bacon”



Remember to always wash your hands prior to preparing. Use food grade gloves where appropriate to prevent contamination. 

Recipe and Ingredients: 

  • 1 pound of THICK CUT Bacon 

  • ½ cup Maple Syrup

  • ½ cup Brown Sugar

  • 1 tsp. Blk Pepper

  • ¼ tsp. Cayenne Pepper (optional for heat)

DIRECTIONS:

ALWAYS START BY WASHING YOUR HANDS PRIOR TO PREPARING ANY FOOD FOR FOOD SAFETY.

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add maple syrup, brown sugar, blk pepper, and cayenne (if wanted) then mix well to fully combine.

  2. Add bacon slices one by one into the bowl gently.  

  3. Use silicon or any type of soft tongs or utensil to move the bacon around and full coat each slice gently without tearing.

  4. Once coated, place bacon slices onto a tray w/warming rack to keep it elevated during the cook.  We will be using the whole tray on the smoker so be sure to allow a small amount of space between each slice of bacon for smoke/heat to travel.

  5. Pre-heat your smoker to 275 degrees Fahrenheit.

  6. Place bacon on the smoker and let it go for around one hour or until the bacon is done to your liking (texture preference).

  7. Remove bacon from the smoker, allow 30 minutes to cool and firm up, SERVE AND ENJOY!
